Fishing Statistics

All fish are handled and live released back into their natural habitat with great care. Landing cradles are used to minimize the strain on fish, and the time out of water is limited to reduce the stress on the fish caught.

Statistic numbers are based on guided fishing trips and do not reflect total fish numbers from all fishing activities.

Note:  Due to an early spring this year, the ice left Phelps Lake much earlier than normal. By mid June, the weeds were already in full growth and the pike were well past their spawn.  The early ice-out and warm weather advanced the whole natural cycle throughout the summer season.  With the unusual conditions and low water conditions, fishing proved to be more of a challenge than normal and hence a decline in statistics from previous years.
