Phelps Lake in northern Saskatchewan hosts over 34,000 acres of surface waters with over 300 islands providing superb structure.

The fishing on Phelps Lake has been mainly for Northern Pike and Lake Trout, but many other game species, and smaller baitfish inhabit the waters.

 

The Lake Trout of Phelps Lake are unique in their varied strains exhibiting wildly looking colors and patterns. They average in the 5 to15 pounds, with many in the 20 to 40+ pounds, range.

Journey to the remote Northern Canadian Phelps Lake in the beautiful “Land of the Living Skies,” and take home a memory that will last a lifetime. Fly via Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Points North where a float plane will whisk you over the Canadian wilderness to Phelps Lake. Wolf Bay Lodge is the lone occupancy on Phelps Lake with no commercial fishing or added fishing pressures. Phelps Lake has never been commercially fished and just recently opened up to angling in the 1990’s.

THE LAKES

Phelps Lake area hosts a wide diversity of wildlife and waterfowl.  On its treeline border, many large mammals traverse the lands.  Black bear, moose, caribou, and the trademark wolf are frequently seen. Each winter the Qamanirjuaq and Kimberly herds of barren land caribou merge and traverse the Phelps Lake area on their annual migration.  The two herds combined are estimated at 400 to 600 thousand caribou

Sava Lake Outpost

Sava Lake – Take to the skies and explore this secluded outpost. With access to just one cabin, you’ll have the entire lake to yourself and can reel in some incredible Walleye.

Edwards Lake

Take on the challenge of portaging to Edwards Lake from Phelps Lake. This untouched lake is perfect for those looking for a more adventurous fishing experience. Cast your line and see what you can reel in.

Bickerton Lake

Nestled to the southeast of Phelps Lake, Bickerton Lake is a hidden gem that stretches for miles. With abundant populations of Lake Trout and Northern Pike, this secluded lake is a true angler’s paradise.

Macdonald Lake

To the northeast of Phelps Lake lies MacDonald Lake, a 5-mile long lake that has never been touched by a boat or lure. As one of the exclusive day-use lakes for Wolf Bay Lodge, MacDonald Lake is home to trophy-sized Northern Pike and Lake Trout, waiting to be caught by the adventurous angler.

Nisku Lake

With its large size and diverse fish populations, Nisku Lake is a must-visit destination for any angler. Located to the east of Phelps Lake, this expansive lake is home to Walleye, Northern Pike, and Lake Trout, making it a true angling paradise.
